| A quick review of the last Special Meeting of Electors concerning our Small Parks and related issues. March 2007 There were 380 signatures received in less than 3 weeks. Only 100 signatures were needed to call the Special Meeting. |
1. The Mayor conducted the meeting. 2. Large screen material was produced, a projector privately rented, & Council Staff with the Mayor would not allow the material to be seen. 3. Comments from the floor had to be framed as questions. 4. Time restrictions stopped participation by many. 5. The recommendations, often unanimously passed at the meeting, were only given limited recognition by the 9 Councillors. (Christie Park looks like it will be sold, despite what the meeting decided) 6. Policy requests for less 'external consultants' seems to be ignored. 7. The Mayor imposed her own narrow interpretation of the purpose of the Special Meeting of Ratepayers. (Efforts to consider the jetties at Kelly Park were silenced. The Town of Bassendean later decided to remove them). |

| The community needs your help so we can all help ourselves ! We need to define what we want, and why, then the when and where, should make it easier for the how to be designed and implemented. |
1. Download the petition, or phone 9379 9479 and we will post out a copy. 2. Speak with neighbours, discuss the issues, ask questions, maybe even question Don Yates, 9379 9479 or send an email. 3. OK, we need 100 signatures to ask for a Special Meeting of Ratepayers. 4. We need to assemble a meeting format and recommendations list to be considered at the meeting, (assuming we get the interest?!) 5. A suggestion is to have boards with options on display before the meeting. This leaves max time for community comment and questions, with recommendations to be voted on, with a way to track and review the Council responses, and hold them to what the ratepayers want. |
