Don Yates has lived in Bassendean
for more than 9 years near the
Success Hill Station in a 'renovator's delight',
with lots of trees, and other flaura and fauna.
His Charles Pratt relatives arrived in the WA
in January 1830 on a ship called the Eagle.
Another part of the family was great grandfather
Charles Smith of Fairholme, Fariholme is the residence between the Swan River &
the Guildford Railway Station.
Don is currently a member of the
Bassendean Preservation Group and also supports
multiple community activities including Junior Football,
the Village Green Community Foundation and,
Chairman of Mining Families Foundation of Aust Ltd.
Other community activities included participation in
Town of Bassendean committees on Town Planning, Economic Development & Community Sustainability,
running various Bassendean Leisure Courses from
Hobby Electronics, to Book Publishing and
conducting hands-on rubbish bin trial programs
Other interests include renewable energy
solar, wind & micro-hydro systems,
light rail developments near Shanghai,
sustainable development architecture,
stormwater harvesting and cleaning,
pond cat boat racing at Pt Reserve,
and collector export model trains,

A new Bassendean Leisure Course
will be repeated next term will help all ages to build
their own pond cats and join in.
